General Photonics is committed to both high performance
standards and environmental responsibility. We recognize that many of our customers
share this commitment and are concerned with the requirements of the European Union
Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive. In general, we endeavor to
minimize hazardous materials used in the manufacture of our products.
The RoHS directive specifically exempts two of the 10 categories
of electrical and electronic equipment defined in Annex IA to Directive No 2002/96/EC
(WEEE) from the scope of its coverage:1, 2
8) Medical devices (with the
exception of implanted and infected products);
9) Monitoring and control instruments.
Like those of Agilent3 , all of our control,
test, and measurement instruments fall under category 9, and are therefore exempt
from the RoHS requirements.
Despite the exemptions, General Photonics is committed to
bringing its products into RoHS compliance as soon as acceptable RoHS compliant
parts are found and qualified to insure that they satisfy General Photonics' performance
requirements.
